PRO PAC is sold exclusively through the pet specialty trade worldwide (not available in supermarkets). It is AAFCO (Association of American Feed Control Officials) approved, with all ingredients rigorously tested to meet strict quality control standards.

• Digestible Protein: Chicken or lamb meal - the highest quality in the industry and containing no by-products (see below)
• Dietary Fat: Only high quality chicken fat naturally preserved with mixed tocopherols, an excellent source of the natural antioxidant Vitamin E, for unsurpassed palatability and energy
• Omega 6 and Omega 3 Fatty Acids: PRO PAC contains a carefully adjusted ratio of the Omega 6 and the Omega 3 fatty acids to provide a luxuriant coat and healthy skin. Chicken fat is an excellent source of Omega 6. Also contains flaxseed, a grain rich in Omega 3 fatty acids
• Superior blend of antioxidants: to maintain a healthy immune system

Why Chicken Meal vs 'Real'Chicken

Chicken in its 'real' state is about 60% water
When the food is processed and heated it loses most of its water, greatly reducing its content. Even if listed as such on the bag it will not be the #1 ingredient after processing
Chicken meal is dehydrated chicken meat. It remains the #1 ingredient by weight after processing
If the product does not use 'meal' it will not be the first ingredient after processing, despite what the bag says.

Chicken By-Product Meal: (NOT in PRO PAC)

The AAFCO definition of chicken by-product meal is "a meal consisting of the ground, rendered, clean parts of the carcass of slaughtered chicken, such as necks, feet, undeveloped eggs and intestines, exclusive of feathers, except in such amounts as might occur unavoidable in good processing practice."  These are usually products that are of such low quality as to be rejected for use in the human food chain, or else are those parts that have so little value that they cannot be used elsewhere in either the human or pet food industries.

Corn Gluten Meal:  (NOT in PRO PAC)

The AAFCO definition of corn gluten meal is "the dried residue from corn after the removal of the larger part of the starch and germ, and the separation of the bran by the process employed in the wet milling manufacture of corn starch or syrup, or by enzymatic treatment of the endosperm". In plain English, that which remains after all the nutritious bits have been removed.
